In Prague you can of course also do some great shopping. I actually think it's a waste of my time. After all, you also have the opportunity to wander through Europe's largest open-air museum.
The most famous shopping streets are Václavské náměstí (around Wenceslau Square) and Na Příkopě a side street of Wenceslaus Square. In particular, you will find many large chain stores.
Prague also has many large (mostly covered) shopping centres. I'm not a shopping type when I'm in Prague, but I can still suggest two of those shopping centers.
Palladium: Adress: Náměstí Republiky 1078/1, 110 00 Praag Tsjechië Website: https://www.palladiumpraha.cz/
In the Palladium you will find more than 150 shops, says the internet. I can't confirm that because I didn't count them. I can tell you that many well-known chains and brands are represented. Because it is right in the center, it can unfortunately be very busy with tourists. You will not see many locals there. On the top floor of the 5-storey complex you will find all well-known food chains such as MC Donalds, KFC, Burger King and Pizza Hut and a lot more. However, it is better to save your money and go to a nice Czech restaurant, which may be even cheaper. Nový Smíchov Shopping Centre:
Adress: Plzeňská 8, 150 00 Praha 5-Smíchov, Tsjechië Website: https://novy-smichov.klepierre.cz/
Nový Smíchov can be found around the corner from metro station Andel in my favorite Prague district Smichov on the border with the Mala Strana district. I got to know this shopping center when I was looking for something and a local Czech pointed out the gigantic Tesco hypermarket in the shopping center. Every shopaholic can enjoy himself in Nový Smíchov because I think you will come across just about every chain and brand there. In addition, just like in the Palladium, the inner man has also been thought of. Also in Nový Smíchov all well-known chains such as the Big M, the competitor with the crown and KFC are present. You will also find some local eateries. What I also really like about Nový Smíchov is that compared to Palladium you mainly only meet the inhabitants of Prague itself and few tourists. Much nicer if I do say so myself.
Physical gold ATM in Nový Smíchov
At the main entrance of the Nový Smíchov shopping center you can even pull gold bars from the wall. There is a gold bar machine next to the regular ATMs, but gold bars is a better definition. When you put in cash, a gold bar comes out. The size of the gold bar depends on how much money you have entered. The machine accepts Euros and Czech crowns. You do not have to identify yourself as long as the purchase does not exceed € 10,000 or CKZ 250,000. The price per gram is CZK 1,400.
There are three options:
Gold bar of 1 gram
Argor Heraeus gold bar (10 grams)
Troy ounce (31.1035 grams)
Which brands and chains can you find there? all 153 stores are too many to mention, but here's a small selection: 7 Camice, Armani, Calvin Klein, Calzedonia, Disigual, Hugo Boss, Zara Kids and Au Pays des Mimis. A3 Sport, Adidas, Nike, Reebok and more.
So where is the best place to shop? The big chains are located on the main streets such as Primark, New Yorker, H&M, C&A and some department stores. As far as the two covered shopping centers are concerned, you will find a similar range of shops in both. You only have to make the choice for yourself: do I want to bust through the tourists in Palladium or do I want to experience the coziness of the locals in Nový Smíchov. I choose option two Nový Smíchov!
